The official website of Korea Grand Sale 2015, which kicks off on December 1, 2014, was launched today (Nov. 11, 2014), signaling the beginning of full preparations to welcome foreign shoppers.

Starting today, the Visit Korea Committee provides information on various discounts and benefits offered by more than 28,000 stores of 135 businesses taking part in the grand sale, at the official website for Korea Grand Sale 2015 (www.koreagrandsale.co.kr).

Most notably, in celebration of the launch of the website for Korea Grand Sale 2015, a Luxury Shopping Pass Event has been staged for foreign shoppers today and will be continued until December 31, 2014.

Log on to the website, download coupons to make your own coupon books, and participate in the event. Prizes for 100 lucky tourists include return tickets provided by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, and Jeju Air, Lotte Hotel vouchers and duty-free shop prepaid cards, and tickets to K-Pop concerts held to commemorate Korea Grand Sale 2015. Meanwhile, the Visit Korea Committee launched a pre-event survey among foreigners on an SNS channel last month to find out what information they actually need the most before they leave for Korea for shopping purposes.

To date, more than 1,600 foreigners have responded and asked questions about their potential shopping trips to Korea; food, shopping, tourist attractions, and accommodation have topped the list of their questions at 25%, 22%, 22%, and 18%, respectively. Specifically, their questions ranged from detailed discount information of each shopping destination, information on discount benefits offered by different Korean cosmetics brands, popular shopping items in Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, and Garosu-gil, introduction of major street food, and information on hanok accommodation.

In addition, the Visit Korea Committee is promoting Korea Grand Sale 2015 to the Chinese in collaboration with China’s largest social networking site, Weibo, and its web portal service sina.com.

Launched on Weibo, the pre-event marketing for Korean Grand Sale 2015 recorded more than 4,000 contents sharing services and over 1.2 million clicks in just a week.

Starting from the middle of November, the committee plans to expand its support for Korea Grand Sale 2015 to ensure that more Chinese tourists actually visit the offline stores of local businesses participating in the Grand Sale.
